“Music has the power to connect you

to people around the world
and at the same time
connect you deeply to

your own culture and family”
– Shlomit Levi

Shlomit Levi is a powerhouse vocalist hailing from Kiryat Ekron, Israel, and now based in the United States. Shlomit grew up immersed in the culture and music of her ancestral home of Yemen, a profound influence on her artistry. Born in the small town of Kiryat Ekron, Israel, she mastered the craft of Jewish Yemenite singing so well that The Jerusalem Post hailed her as “the new Ofra Haza.” Known as “the Golden Voice” of Israel's celebrated oriental heavy metal band Orphaned Land, Shlomit was the sole female performer in the band. She introduced the band to her childhood song “Sapari,” a 400-year-old Yemenite chant, which they rearranged into an instant hit. In 2010, Orphaned Land, featuring Shlomit, opened for Metallica at Ramat Gan Stadium in Israel, performing before 30,000 people and showcasing her Yemenite heritage on Israel's biggest stage.
Shlomit contributed vocals to several of the band's albums and toured extensively with them across Israel and on one tour in Europe. Shlomit led her own band and performed in collaboration with many renowned Israeli singers, including Efrat Gosh, Eti Ankri, and Aya Korem. Many of these concerts were supported by the Hillel organization and the Avi Chai Foundation between 2002 and 2012. She was also invited to perform with the beloved Israeli singer Boaz Sharabi, touring Israel with him and concluding one tour at the prestigious Caesarea Amphitheater. This concert was later released as a DVD.
Shlomit Levi was also the lead singer of the Yemenite award-winning dance group "Uri Teman," led by Osnat Sharabi Braidman, performing vibrant shows of Yemenite song and dance.
In 2011, Shlomit met the American world music producer and recording artist RebbeSoul. The two formed ‘Shlomit & RebbeSoul’ and started to perform together. In 2013, Shlomit moved with her family to the US and resides in Bergen County, New Jersey since. She continued her collaboration with RebbeSoul, performing across the US and in the UK. In 2015, they debuted their album “The Seal of Solomon,” which combines traditional Jewish and Yemenite music with rock, folk, electronica, and world music, with Shlomit singing in Hebrew, English, Arabic, Yemenite, and Aramaic. The album blends the sounds of Shlomit’s Yemenite ancestors with electronica and rock, breaking traditional, cultural, and musical boundaries.
A leading lecturer on Yemenite music, Shlomit has taught for numerous organizations and communities in Israel, the UK, and the US. She has led programs at renowned institutions such as Hillel Israel, ELUL Beit Midrash, the Marom organization, BINA, Kehilot Sharot Piyut, Limmud UK & USA, and AJR. Currently, she lectures on "Yemenite Style Song" in the ALEPH Ordination Rabbinical Program.
In early 2023, Shlomit was invited by the world-famous psytrance DJs Vini Vici to join them on their 10-year anniversary live concerts. Together, they performed at renowned venues like the Hollywood Palladium in LA, Life Park in Istanbul, L'Olympia in Paris, and Docks in Hamburg.
Throughout her career, Shlomit has skillfully fused her ancestral Jewish Yemenite roots with various music genres, including traditional, heavy metal (with Orphaned Land), rock and world music (with Shlomit & RebbeSoul), and EDM (with Vini Vici). She has also created original songs influenced by her roots, such as "Bereshit," "Yemenay Yay," "Tatuim," and "Libi."

In 2024, Shlomit's dynamic performance schedule takes her across the US, with exciting concerts and events. She performs special shows in Santa Fe and Albuquerque alongside RebbeSoul, and headlines the largest Jewish celebration on Long Island, Israeli Fest, with her band LoKaLi. Additionally, she dedicates time to recording sessions for several upcoming projects and showcases "The Yemenite Experience," a captivating show-story performance, in various venues. The year culminates on a high note with a highly anticipated reunion with Orphaned Land on October 3 in Tel Aviv, Israel.
